The prize is awarded for the best English-language summary of a Nikhef thesis. Without the efforts of Prof. Jan Kluyver the Nikhef Cooperation Agreement in 1975 would never have been materialized. Because, without a doubt, the most important output of Nikhef are our excellent Nikhef newly trained PhD physicists, who are the future of Nikhef's research, the prize bears the name of Jan Kluyver. The jury consists of former directors of Nikhef.
