Hi all,

I take the occasion to add that various linux distributions are officially NOT supported by the vidyo support team.

For example OpenSuSE which is one of the most common (after Ubuntu).

I suppose that CERN will just say: install the cern linux distribution... but this is not the kind of answer I like.

Do you know if there is any plan to make our life easier?

cheers,

Francesco

|Dear all,

|

|I apologise for my connectivity issues in skype in the meeting today,

|please feel free to drop any comments you may have into my inbox (and I

|guess there will be plenty - I find this time-dependent stuff is always

|rather difficult to present in a short time, and I'd guess you could

|tell).

|

|For the future, since CERN (and I guess also Nikhef) is paying to have

|Vidyo just work, could we perhaps switch to the officially supported

|software, please? (And if it does not work, can we make the life of the

|support team hell? That's what they're paid for. We should not need to

|waste our time with these things, and in my experience, Vidyo actually

|works reasonably well.) My experience on skype today was a rather

|difficult one, with sound dropouts throughout the session, microphones

|suddenly ceasing to function and a couple of random disconnects... In the

|end, I got maybe half of the meeting, and the comments I would have liked

|to hear in person I could not hear at all because skype did not allow me

|to reconnect...

|

|Cheers, and I apologise again for the connectivity problems,

|

|Manuel
