My apologies: the seminar is at 10h30, not at 11h00 !!

Dear friends,
Today, Plamen Hopchev is visiting Nikhef for a postdoc application. He will give a 30' seminar at 11h00 in H220 (note location!) on the following topic: "The beam-gas method for absolute luminosity determination"
ABSTRACT: "The high resolution of the LHCb vertex detector allows precise measurement of vertices of beam-gas and beam-beam interactions and the determination of beam parameters such as positions, angles and widths. Using the directly measured beam properties a novel method for absolute luminosity normalization has been applied for a first time at the LHCb experiment. The principle requirements and results of the beam-gas luminosity normalization procedure will be described."
Hope to see you all there, - Marcel
