Time: 16.30 - 17.00, H320 Speaker: Wouter Dekens (RUG) Title: "CP violation beyond the standard model at low energies and the LHC"
CP-violating beyond the standard model (BSM) physics in principle affects both low-energy precision experiments and the processes measured at the LHC. This talk will consider some of the possible effects of BSM physics in the two types of searches, focusing on B-meson mixing observables studied at LHCb and electric dipole moments (EDMs). Given the rather different processes involved in both experiments, the two searches tend to be sensitive to different BSM interactions, making them complementary to one another. Nevertheless, in certain models of BSM physics the two types of observables can become related to each other. Examples of the interplay between EDMs and B-meson mixing will be considered in both an effective-field-theory approach and a specific model of BSM physics, namely, the left-right model.
