Dear all,
in attachment you can find a summary of the comments on the paper on D-> pi mu mu. So far it includes Patrick and Kristof's comments, beside mine. If anybody else wants to add other comments I'll integrate them. If not Tjeerd would you upload them on behalf of the group?
cheers, Francesco

Dear all,
We have got a reply to our comments concerning the paper: LHCB-PAPER-2012-051-001.
https://cds.cern.ch/record/1514042?
I do not find their answers completely satisfactory in some parts, but at least they have removed the problem of the mid-q^2 bin by merging it to the rho/omega region.
I don't have other major concerns, let me know if you want to comment back something.
cheers, Francesco

Hi all,
"not completely satisfactory" is a nice way of phrasing it. For instance:
- Possible peaking backgrounds: did you consider the possibility of the
following decay: D-> rho0 (-> pi pi) mu nu? It has a high branching
fraction
and needs only one misidentification.
Such a background will occur at masses lower than the D mass. Only fully reconstructed peaking backgrounds are explicitly modelled in the fit. An acceptable chi2 is obtained, so we are not strongly motivated to include all possible components in the fit if the net result will not change significantly.
Do they know what the mass of the neutrino is? What can we do to "strongly motivate" them? Can the referees help?
Cheers,
Patrick

Hi Patrick,
yes I agree. That was also my main "not satisfaction". An acceptable chi2 does not mean the fit model is correct (especially if you are searching for rare decays).
