Dear LHCb Colleague, The comment (LHCB-CONF-2012-028-001-COMMENT-001) that you made on LHCB-CONF-2012-028-001 (entitled: 'Evidence for $C!P$ violation in $B^{\pm} \rightarrow \pi^{\pm} \pi^{+} \pi^{-}$ and $B^{\pm} \rightarrow K^{+} K^{-} \pi^{\pm}$ decays') has itself been commented on by Alvaro Gomes Dos Santos Neto [CERN - PH/ULB] (alvaro.gomes.dos.santos.neto@cern.ch).

Hi Tjeerd,
I had a look through. I think the comments are for the most part accepted. There are some small misunderstandings, but despite those the authors seem to do as we intended to ask, which is very nice to see.
The only point I think we should clarify a second time is point (1) on the motivation.
Although the proponents do want to include something more full for the paper, they should still say something in this conference note, however small, about the motivation of this study, and indicate at least that it is not currently known whether the 50% is new physics or not.
A simple sentence such as "At this time we are unaware of a precise Standard Model prediction of these asymmetries, which renders interpretation of the large observed asymmetries uncertain. As a result, to obtain the most information we form our analysis to measure also in bins of the Dalitz plane, similarly to the studies performed in Ref...."
This should be placed in both the introduction and conclusions if possible.
Thanks,
Rob
