Dear collegues,
This year, the Nikhef open day will take place on Saturday 4 October. If you would like to participate in the adventure of explaining b-physics, detector related items, or any science question / personal theory that the general audience may come up with, please let me know! I will send Surya a list of names of people that would like a genuine Nikhef T-shirt, name tag and lunch. (i.e. Going or Going part-time/maybe)
So far I registered the following:
Going: - Laurent, Greg, Veerle, Maarten, Roel, Mick
Going part-time / maybe: - Pieter, Wouter, Jeroen v.T., Siim, Niels
Not going: - Elise, Jeroen v.L., Lennaert
Please let me know if you want on this list! Nikhef will open up to the public at 12:00, but being there a bit before that to help set things up is always appreciated.
Also, if you have any refreshing ideas, they are more than welcome. We will try to run the masterclass on the full screen this year, as well as get some new (upgrade) posters designed. In addition, we hope to rely on the support from last year (OT module / Calo crystal / LHCb maquette / LHCb movie / old posters / etc.)
Thanks, Jacco
Dear colleagues,
Thanks for your help in making the open day a success once more! There were slightly less people visiting as compared to last year, but we had some very interesting discussions, theories and explanations nonetheless. The audible B-meson mixing frequency (thanks to Rob) was a nice addition to our setup.
I took a few pictures, which can be found via the link below: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/cuzx15si4uia3v7/AABtMOwqr-xjkay7LIetQKSsa?dl=0 although I’m sure Arne will have many more pictures available soon.
Cheers, Jacco
