The EGI Security Policy Group is pleased to announce that 2 new security
policies have recently been approved and will come into effect on 1st
February 2012.
1) The "Service Operations Security Policy" replaces two old security
policies, namely the "Grid Site Operations Policy" and the "Site Registration
Security Policy". This policy not only applies to Resource Centres but also
to anyone (e.g. a VO) providing or running a service on the Infrastructure.
See https://documents.egi.eu/document/669
2) The "Security Policy for the Endorsement and Operation of Virtual Machine
Images" is a new security policy specifying the requirements for the
generation, distribution and operation of virtual machine images as part of
the trusted computing environment of the IT Infrastructure.
See https://documents.egi.eu/document/771
The full list of adopted security policies is always available on the SPG
wiki at

The utilization of the new version of ActiveMQ that was deployed in the PROD
network at the end of 2011 revealed bugs that were reported in the upstream
and fixed (among others) by a new version.
A complete changelog can be found at ActiveMQ 5.5.1-fuse-01-20 release notes
here:
http://fusesource.com/wiki/display/ProdInfo/FUSE+Message+Broker+v5.5.1-fuse…
The new version is a minor update to broker network and it is already tested
successfully on TEST broker network.
The PROD ActiveMQ message broker network upgrade is planned for 30 and 31
January 2012 with the following schedule:
CERN1 + AUTH on 30th January (11 am - 12 pm CET)
CERN2 + SRCE on 31th January (12 pm - 1 pm CET)
The upgrade will take place in 2 stages in order to avoid service disruption.
Other changes that will happen during this update are:
- Camel routes will be switched off, SAM is already using wildcard
subscriptions instead, others didn't use this feature. This is the last
feature that was deployed only on one server.
- Automatic closing of inactive STOMP connections after one hour. Inactive
connections are overloading brokers and currently it is needed to be cleared
manually periodically. If need, clients can reconnect.
To be clear the service as a whole will not be disrupted, the availability of
individual brokers will only be affected.
Regards,
Christos Triantafyllidis

Hi.
As previously mentioned, we are organizing a DPM community workshop, with the
following goals:
* Bring the DPM community together (users, administrators, developers) for an
exchange of experiences and ideas
* Introduce best practices on DPM usage and administration, given by actual
users and site admins
* Create a DPM knowledge base, merging all the experiences and recipes
* Introduce the new DPM components and features, with a series of short
tutorials
* Discuss and prioritize the roadmap for the system, to take full advantage
of the LHC shutdown period
The current format is one day, on the 27th February 2012, at CERN.
We encourage all users, administrators, site managers and developers to let
us know about their interest and availability by pre-registering. You can do
it directly on our preliminary agenda
page, available here:
http://indico.cern.ch/event/dpm-community-workshop-2012
If you have any comments / suggestions on the format or the content of the
agenda, do let us know. The agenda is quite flexible.
Hope to see you all very soon.
Regards,
Ricardo (on behalf of the DPM team)
