Dear VO Manager
EGI together with APARSEN would like to invite research communities and
interested organizations to participate to the Workshop on Managing,
Computing and Preserving Big Data for Research.
The event is jointly organized by APARSEN (the Alliance Permanent Access to
the Records of Science in Europe Network) and EGI in the days March 04-06 in
Amsterdam.
The meeting is focused on requirements and use cases. Research communities
are invited to submit information about their plans and requirements on
long-term Preservation and open data by the
*24th of February*.
For registration and more information:
https://indico.egi.eu/indico/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=2052
(the agenda is still subject to change).
The workshop will help research communities in understanding the status of
the art and will showcase how different technical solutions can support use
cases. The workshop is a unique opportunity to meet many experts in this
sector and features high-level contributions:
- Solutions for Data Management Planning and Repository Certification by
David Giaretta, Director of the Alliance for Permanent Access, European Union
Network of Excellence
(http://www.alliancepermanentaccess.org/index.php/about/david-giarettas-prof…)
- Data Management Planning and the DANS "Data Seal of Approval"
by Peter Doorn, Director of Data Archiving and Networked Services (DANS)
Peter represents the Netherlands Coalition for Digital Preservation (NCDD)
in APA
(http://www.datasealofapproval.org/en/,
http://www.dans.knaw.nl/en/content/about-dans)
- Value Adding, Sustainability and Metadata Packaging
by Matthias Hemmje, professor at the University of Hagen (FernUniversität in
Hagen FUH) and APA executive board member
We welcome the submission of use cases and requirements, and we look forward
to meet many of view in Amsterdam.
Apologies in case of cross-posting.
Best wishes
Tiziana Ferrari/EGI-InSPIRE Project Director
