Dear VO Manager
This is to inform you that EGI is now providing a resource allocation service that currently provides access to computing and/or storage resources as well as extended support services at EGI service provider sites.
EGI and six of its partners have created a pool of computing and storage resources whose use is open to both new and existing user communities. The resource pool amounts to 5,000 job slots and 170 TB of storage that are on offer.
Researchers are invited to submit requests to make use of this pool.
To streamline the process applicants do not need to have either an x509 user certificate or be part of a Virtual Organisation registered in EGI. Applicants just need to provide information about the user community or project that they represent, the use case that they want to run, and an assessment of the resources needed. They will then be contacted by the EGI Operations Team to discuss the proposal and allocation of resources to best match needs and available resources.
During this initial phase applications will be processed on a first come, first served basis and will need to be approved by both the EGI Operations Team and the resource providers. In the event that a request for resources does not match with the pool availability, users will be invited to submit a revised request.
