I would like to inform you that GOCDB v5 - a new major release of the EGI service registry, is currently scheduled on the 2nd of September. GOCDB v5 introduces a number of changes and a test instance is available for testing. This is particularly relevant to communities that rely on systems that extract information from GOCDB. Please contact the GOCDB team in case of interoperability problems.
More information follows. Best wishes, Tiziana Ferrari/EGI Operations
GOCDB v5 ======= A provisional date of 2nd Sept has been scheduled for the GOCDB v5 release. This is a major release which involves migration of the data to a new domain model that supports different DBs.
Backward compatibility with the existing v4 PI has largely been maintained however, there are a number of small but important changes documented on the GOCDB wiki, see [1].
The most important of these changes include new primary keys (PKs) for NGIs, ServiceGroups and Services. The new PKs change the URLs of the user interface and the XML output of selected PI methods, see [1].
These changes have undergone acceptance testing within JRA1, but we would now like to extend testing to the wider community. A v5 portal and PI has been made available for testing against a recent snapshot of the production data (see[2]). Please go and play. Any changes made through this v5 test instance will not update the production data.
The test machine is a little slow but still responds to queries within a reasonable time. Please let us know if this causes problems. Our test show that, compared to GOCDB v4, GOCDB v5 is faster for the majority of queries.
Please report any issues at: gocdb-admins@mailman.egi.eu
Many thanks, GOCDB Team
