Hi Bart,

If nobody disagrees, that might be the best thing to do.

Regards, Hans.

Hi Hans,

My poster designer was complaining that the international list was already long....

I think the international list + the secretary is sufficient,  the website gives all details.

On other posters of conferences and workshops, Antti and I have observed that there
are generally longer lists of organisers. We think that, at the end of the announcement
by email, we should add the list of local as well as the list of international
organisers. It would be good if you could find a way to include both on the poster
too. If this seems impossible, we can re-discuss the issue.

Best regards, Hans.

Dear all,

The list of topics is too long for the poster we are making now. I summarized the list for the poster only see below.. Please comment. Concerning the name list, do we display the local or international organizer list on the poster?

Short list poster:
  • Mechanical design, advanced materials and construction technologies
  • Thermal management, cooling and bake-out
  • Humidity control, monitoring  and sealing
  • Installation, integration, disassembly and transportation
  • Stability, alignment and adjustment systems
  • Quality control, failure and service management
  • Radiation effects on materials and handling of irradiated structures
  •  Structural and vibration analyses
  • Detailed topic list can be found on the webpage forum2015.nikhef.nl

Dear all,

I have edited the announcement text and list of topics following suggestions by Bart, Burkhard and Patrick. Several of the topics became shorter or merged together, but I also added some new ones. So, the list is not shorter, but I hope it is still reasonable and serves the purpose.
č Do not hesitate to propose further changes still within today.

Let’s send the announcement tomorrow morning to the email-lists as given in “Forum_announcement_email_lists” inhttps://espace.cern.ch/detector-mechanics-forum/SitePages/Home.aspx.
That document lists also who should send to which email list.
č Please check now if You are on that list, and proceed then tomorrow accordingly.

Cheers,
Antti

Dear all,

I made two changes to the document:
http://forum2015.nikhef.nl

and

changed NIKHEF into Nikhef. This is how Nikhef is written now a days. Since two months we also have a new logo to accommodate the new writing.

I agree with Burkhard that the list could be arranged better and shorter, but it is not necessarily.
Possibly change "choice of construction materials" in "Advanced materials".

Cheers, Patrick

Dear all,

I've 2 remarks. I miss in the topics something about fabrication technologies. There is a lot going on in this field (eg 3d printing) and I could not find a topic covering this.

2nd, the announcement has the web address which is too long, I asked at nikhef to make an alias. we should put the simple address in the announcement. I hope we know today, so please don't send it out yet.

Dear Antti, dear colleagues

I corrected a few minor typos and suggest to drop one part of a sentence which in my opinion is not needed in the announcement. Personally I also think the list of topics to be covered should be arranged better and made shorter. It is very detailed as it stands. I say this as a suggestion, I don't insist, but want to mention it.

Best regards,
Burkhard

Dear Colleagues,

Thank you Patrick. I made my registration now, and can therefore confirm that the registration system works fine.

We need to send the first announcement asap. I cross-checked the announcement text draft sent last week by Georg, and made some modifications to it. Notably, I added the possibility that companies may participate to the event. The edited document is available in https://espace.cern.ch/detector-mechanics-forum/SitePages/Home.aspx, at the bottom of the page: "Forum 2015 First announcement".

If you open the document in the web browser you see the edited version, if you open it in Word you will see what changes have been done.

Please check the announcement document *now*, and do your editing to the document where needed (with "Track changes" in Word). Let's get it finalised within tomorrow, and send it to the email lists on this Friday 6 Feb.

Thanks, cheers,
Antti

Dear all,

For Registration and Payment an Indico page has been setup at Nikhef, see:

https://indico.nikhef.nl/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=115

The content is the same as last year in Desy.

Concerning the fee we will ask 180 Eur. This includes the room, coffee, lunch, reception, diner, .....

Payment can be done through the FOM Payment Portal. I assume the instructions are clear.

I have also added some links between the CERN and Nikhef Indico. The two should be in agreement.

Cheers, Patrick
