Hello!
I hope this finds you well. My name is Kate St. Amand and I am co-Artistic Director of the NYC-based dance company, SYREN Modern Dance.
We recently premiered a new dance titled "Red and Blue, Bitter and Sweet" in NYC and it was received incredibly well. The inspiration; quantum mechanics, was a wild point of departure for us, but we decided to follow this inspiration, and we are so happy we did. The dance specifically explores theories such as Entanglement and Uncertainty Principle, as well as more vast/philosophical concepts. We are by no means experts in the field (I would consider our knowledge elementary at BEST) but we believe deeply in enriching people's lives by empowering them to be curious, ask, and learn! We think the intersection of science and art is a powerful place to do this. We worked with NYU Physicist and CERN (Atlas) collaborator, Allen Mincer, to hone our ideas and investigating the incredible field of quantum physics.
I am reaching out to you to see if you would be interested in having SYREN perform the piece at your event. The dance itself is 35 minutes. We have done many versions now including a full production with an onstage panel discussion following the performance and also times when we literally pushed desks back in a classroom and did small parts of the piece while talking about our ideas and how we used quantum theory in our creation.
Here is a short promo video of the work to give you a sense of what it looks like. I'd love to talk to you further if you are interested! Link: https://vimeo.com/214661804?
I truly appreciate your time,
Kate
