Dear all,

This Friday, April 5th, there will be an extra colloquium by Rikkert Frederix at 3pm in room C0.110.

Speaker: Rikkert Frederix

Title: Tools for LHC phenomenology -- the road from postdictions to predictions

Abstract:

The world's largest particle accelerator, the LHC, has been running extremely well during the last couple of years. The data recorded by the experiments is of extremely high quality, surpassing most expectations. To get the most out of the data by comparing them to theory, predictions of evenly high quality are a must. In this talk I'll discuss the FxFx merging procedure, implemented in the aMC@NLO program, that allows for the simulation of events at unprecedented precision.
