University of Sheffield Engineering Symposium (USES)

What: A day-long event which focuses on the benefits of interdisciplinary research. The event is organised by young engineering researchers to showcase their work.

This student led symposium from the Faculty of Engineering attracts industry, policy makers and academics and highlights amazing research projects as well as creating a valuable networking opportunity.

The event, organised by research students showcases the Faculty of Engineering’s latest research including seven parallel sessions covering:
1. Computational Modelling: From atoms to Continuum Mechanics
2. Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering
3. Efficient Technological Solutions for Tomorrow’s Society
4. Automatic systems, intelligent systems and robotics
5. Saving our planet: Engineering a better future
6. Advances in Industrial Design
7. Advanced functional Materials for Engineering and Life Sciences

The event includes a talk from Dr. Carlo Boldetti – Lead Engineer at Mc Laren F1 covering design and manufacture of an F1 car as well as a panel event on Fracking featuring leading academics and a poster exhibition of 80 projects.
