Dear Colleague,
The twelfth edition of WPCF will start on the 12th of June. We are very much looking forward to welcoming you to Amsterdam and to Nikhef.
Please find below some general information. They are also available on our web page under this link https://indico.cern.ch/event/539093/attachments/1470486/2275206/Information.pdf.
Best regards,

=================================================== Workshop venue =================================================== A map is attached with this mail with some indicators for your convenience. The map can also be found here https://indico.cern.ch/event/539093/attachments/1470486/2275204/A5_plattegrond_SPA_Engels.pdf.
The workshop takes place at Science Park in Amsterdam.
The meeting room is Z011 in the CWI building (indicated with the red cross) which is ~50m away from the main entrance of Nikhef (indicated with a green cross).
The former is also where on Monday, starting from 12:00, the registration takes place.
We do plan to have posters, leading you to the main entrance of the meeting place.
=================================================== Reaching the venue =================================================== Science park is easily reachable from the airport or from your hotel by either using the train, a bus, a taxi or by bike.
More details can be found here https://www.nikhef.nl/en/about-nikhef/contact/how-to-reach-nikhef/.
=================================================== Transportation during the workshop ===================================================
A prepaid card will be provided to you as part of the workshop material.
The card only needs to be activated (will also be explained in the introductory slides) and can be used for 5 days for public transportation with GVB (i.e. bus, metro, tram) in Amsterdam. Please note that the card is not valid for the train and can be used for five days the minute it is activated.
In case you want to try the Dutch way of commuting, you can ask at the reception of your hotels for a place where you can rent a bike. Another possibility would be to check for instance, the following links:
http://www.macbike.nl/bike-rental/rental-stores/
The rental shop which is closest to Nikhef is the Black Bikes Oostpoort at Land van Cocagneplein 1E. Check their page to find out about the options and prices: http://black-bikes.com/rental-bikes-amsterdam/.
Important advice: don’t forget to always lock your bike properly!
Please note that the city center can be quite tricky to handle (e.g. many bikes, crowded places, trams, buses and some cars).
=================================================== Weather ===================================================
According to the web, "June is a good month to visit Amsterdam.
Overall you can expect quite a bit of sunshine, with lots of blue skies and a normal average temperature of 15° C(59° F) — and daytime highs of 19-20° C (66.2-68° F)”.
On the other hand, people say that the probability of experiencing some raindrops in the Netherlands if you stay more than 3 days in a row reaches 99% regardless of the period you visit.
That said please think of bringing also an umbrella.
For more general information please see here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amsterdam#Climate.

=================================================== Scientific program ===================================================
The latest version of the program can be found here https://indico.cern.ch/event/539093/timetable/#all.detailed.
=================================================== For speakers =================================================== Please check the day and time of your presentation and either upload your slides yourself or send them to us mailto:wpcf2017-loc@nikhef.nl (e.g. mail, USB, link).
Please make sure that your slides are there the session before yours starts.
We will have a laptop installed with Microsoft office and keynote in the meeting room.
A pointer will also be provided by us.
There will be a person from the LOC appointed to collecting the slides and bringing them up in every session.
=================================================== Network access =================================================== Wifi can be accessed all over science park and thus also in the workshop venue.
If you already use eduroam in your institutes you will find this quite handy also at Nikhef.
The other possibility is the “Amsterdam Science Park” network which is also free.
