This has to be the longest optical cable I've ever seen.

This is the inside of a specialized cable-laying ship from Japan, where they are loading a cable to be laid from Guam to Madang.

The on-line video linked from the gallery is especially worthwhile because it shows how labour-intensive the loading of the cable really is.
