Hi *,
The LOFAR archive working group is a short-term (< 3 months) activity to come up with a blue print for the LOFAR long-term archive.
This archive will host many terabytes, possibly petabytes, of astronomy data.
We feel that we need a better understanding of all relevant issues at this scale. Therefore we'd like to have a workshop with storage specialists, to present the case for the LOFAR archive and to discuss possible pitfalls and solutions.
I've started a Doodle poll to pinpoint the most suitable time and date; if this doesn't work out we'll probably have to contact the specialists individually.
With apologies to all storage non-specialists on this list,
Dennis van Dok
