Ciao All, the list of the participants (applicants) for the SQM school is ready. We got 40 applicants for 40 positions so in principle we would have the possibility to accept everyone (assuming we still reserve the same budget, otherwise we can rescale them). In the list 1 person is in red because he is pretty old and I did not get recommendation letter. We may ask him or decide to remove him immediately. Now, a non negligible problem is that I did not yet check the number of males and females. Since we have double rooms in the hotel, this can create a small issue (we may need 1 or 2 room more) I will prepare a shared folder so that the other members of the school commettee can go through the names and letter if the they like. Please double check the names to be sure that are real students of real groups, I already did but I may have missed something I think we should aim to communicate the support to them in the next couple of weeks so that they can arrange abstracts and travel. The one from the very poor countries may need to know about the support before to send the abstract. According to our information you have advanced further than that and your PhD defence was quite long ago. Therefore the waiver of the conference fee is not applicable in your case. Ciao guys, so we are receiving the first mails of application for the SQM school and this remember me that we need a “committee”. In case we will receive more than 40 applications we will have to decide who to support and who will be refused. Having a committee would help making the process more “fair” and easier to explain to the reject students (and supervisors) why they are rejected. All in all, I would propose beside me: Paul, Cristina and Barbara. Of course I did not contact the persons in this list :) so if you are one of the lucky, you can surely decline … but consider that this will be an easy and not time consuming job. If we get less than 40 applications we will not even meet. To the mentioned persons: Is it ok? Hi Andre, all, I had a meeting with Kees this afternoon about the main web page of SQM. We added at the top page the introductory paragraphs I had on indico, I think this is good enough unless someone has some better idea. What Kees suggested I liked it a lot is to remove the left hand side menu from http://www.nikhef.nl/~keeshu/sqm/ and use the top menu instead that will include all the relevant options. In its place we can put the SQM2017 logo. Andre can you quickly then provide the information about: i. the list of hotels ii. the conference location and a how to reach iii. the conference secretariat and the contact details Kees is in cc, so you can provide the information directly here. As for the domain, this can be opened by our CT (something like sqm2017.nikhef.nl). I’m still investigating with them how long it will take to open a domain. If you still want to get the uu domain, I think one of you should talk to the CT department at the university.
